”Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
It is amazing to realize that the Father God Almighty gives every good and every perfect gift, to every person.
Everything about the only true God is an eternal revelation.
Everything about the gospel is about Jesus.
God has given Himself in totality to the world and to every person.
He gives Himself through His Son Jesus Christ.
For believers, God is our everything.
Even for unbelievers, though they may not realize it, God is their everything.
He has given every person the totality of all that they are and have that is good.
He gives unbelievers their life, body, soul, eternity in their heart, faith, choice and every good and perfect gift they receive and have (Psalm 139:13-15, Ecclesiastes 3:11, Romans 12:3, James 1:17).
He created them. He made them into His own image and likeness. Their soul is eternal and priceless, worth more than the world and everything in it, multiplied times infinity. They will exist forever, either in heaven or hell (Matthew 16:26).
He sustains them their entire life. He gives them breath. He keeps them alive. He gives them everything that keeps them alive (Job 12:10, Isaiah 42:5, James 1:17).
Their life is in His hand. If He withdrew His hand, they would die instantly (Job 12:10).
He does the same for every person they rely on, even for every person in the world (Job 12:10).
God is every person’s everything, from conception to their final breath (Job 12:10, Isaiah 42:5, James 1:17).
God has made Himself clear, obvious and apparent to every person, including those who never hear the gospel (Romans 1:20).
Those who do hear about Jesus are truly fortunate. They have heard the indisputable proof of God’s love for the world: His Son, the savior of the world. More is required of them.
Every person except Jesus falls short of the glory of God.
Just as we miss His revelations in the natural, we often miss them in the Bible.
Yet, everything in the Bible reveals Jesus Christ. Many great teachers reveal the Bible’s fascinating parallel structure. Some examples:
God restored the world in seven days (Genesis 1-2).
There are seven covenants in three eras: five before Jesus, the new covenant, and the eternal covenant.
Every covenant has three elements: promises, conditions and a seal. Every covenant required the shedding of blood.
Before the flood, Noah brought seven clean pairs of all animals into the ark, for sacrifice (Genesis 7:2).
The tabernacle had seven stations in three sections. The entire tabernacle reveals Jesus Christ (Exodus 25-31).
The priest sprinkled blood seven times on the leper, a prophecy and revelation of Jesus cleansing a sinner (Leviticus 14).
Aaron the priest sprinkled blood seven times on the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant (Leviticus 16).
There are seven feasts in three seasons. All the feasts reveal Jesus. He has fulfilled the first four and will fulfill the final three (Leviticus 23-25).
There are seven results of the anointing (Luke 4).
There are seven revelations of Jesus at the beginning of the Gospel of John (John 1:1-13).
There are seven “I am” revelations of Jesus with seven corresponding miracles in John. One of the “I am” passages has three specific revelations (John, John 14:6).
Before His passion, Jesus was inspected seven times and found to be perfect (John 19:4, Luke 23:14-15, John 18:13,24, John 18:19-23, Matthew 27:4, Matthew 27:54 twice).
Jesus shed His blood seven times in three revelations: four times before the cross; two times on the cross; and one time on the cross, after He died.
Jesus was the perfect sacrifice.
His blood is preserved forever in heaven (Hebrews 9:12).
There are seven Spirits of God before God’s throne (Revelation 4:5).
There are seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth (Revelation 5:6).
There are seven manifestations of the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11).
There are 7,000 years of human history in three ages: 4,000 years before Jesus, 2,000 years after Him, and the millennium.
A thousand years is like a day, and a day like a thousand years (2 Peter 3:8).
The Bible confirms and reveals God’s plan for humanity and for every person. His plan is revealed and fulfilled in Jesus.
Even without the Bible, God’s eternal power and divine nature are clear and obvious through His works, the things He has made, His gifts and provision for every person, and more, so that man is without excuse (Romans 1:20).
The only true God is an eternal mystery and revelation.
Yet, He can be summed up in one word, one name, one Person: Jesus.
